Day 1 – Calgary to Banff
Arrive in Calgary, the cowboy capital of Canada, and board a luxury motor coach bound for the Rocky Mountains. Travel from ranchlands and rolling foothills into the spectacular, rugged peaks of Banff National Park. Visit the landmark sights of Banff, with stops at Bow Falls, the Hoodoo rock formations, and Two Jack Lake. Ascend Sulphur Mountain in a gondola and look out over a sea of mountaintops and the Bow Valley far below. Take a scenic cruise on Lake Minnewanka and learn about the history and wildlife of the area. The remainder of your day is free to explore Banff.
Day 2 – Banff
Enjoy a day at leisure in the mountain-culture hub of Banff. Explore art galleries, photo exhibits, and browse through the eclectic shops of downtown Banff. Take a stroll along the Bow River walking trails. Canoe and bike rentals are available for those who wish to explore further.
Day 3 – Banff to Jasper
Board a luxury motor coach for a full day trip along the Icefields Parkway. This route is home to over one hundred visible glaciers, turquoise lakes and rushing waterfalls. At the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre, board an all-terrain Ice Explorer for an exciting ride onto Athabasca Glacier. Step out onto the glacier and fill your water bottle with the freshest meltwater you’ll ever drink. Continue to the Glacier Skywalk and tiptoe out onto a glass viewing platform suspended high above Sunwapta Valley. Make a final photo stop at Athabasca Falls before arriving in the mountain resort town of Jasper.
Day 4 – Jasper to Lake Louise
Enjoy a morning tour through the highlights of Jasper National Park. Photograph the mighty Athabasca River, and look way down through plunging limestone walls into Maligne Canyon. Learn the legend of disappearing Medicine Lake. Look out over the vast waters of Maligne Lake, surrounded by untouched wilderness. Take an afternoon shuttle service to the wilderness setting of Lake Louise. Take in the magnificent beauty of the emerald waters backed by Mount Victoria. Your evening is free to explore and photograph this enchanting wilderness setting.
Day 5 – Lake Louise to Sun Peaks
Depart Lake Louise and travel over the continental divide into Yoho National Park and the province of British Columbia. Traverse along the scenic Kicking Horse River valley before ascending into the spectacular untouched wilderness of Rogers’s Pass. Stop for lunch in the Alpine Town of Revelstoke before continuing towards Okanagan Lake Country. The landscape transitions from rugged peaks to forested hills and expansive lakes. Continue through the desert-like hills surrounding Kamloops, as the road climbs through the Shuswap Highlands into the mountain region of Sun Peaks. Enjoy an evening stroll and keep your eye out for wildlife photo opportunities.
Day 6 – Sun Peaks to Vancouver
Continue your journey toward Vancouver, passing from forested mountains to the dramatic desert scenery of British Columbia’s cowboy country. Follow the Thompson River Valley through Spences Bridge, a small town established during the Cariboo Gold rush of the 1850s. Continue south toward Hell’s Gate and the spectacular Fraser Canyon. Lunch and a tram ride at Hell’s Gate offer a chance to witness the power of water as it churns and pushes through the narrow Hell’s Gate gorge. Following lunch, wind along the mighty Fraser River, through lush pastoral valleys, passing into the urban centres of Abbotsford, Langley, and Surrey. Conclude in the coastal city of Vancouver, surrounded by spectacular ocean views and the impressive peaks of the Coast Mountains. During the evening, enjoy a coast-to-coast flight simulation over Canada’s remarkable landscapes at FlyOver Canada.
Day 7 – Vancouver Departure
