Day 1 – Calgary Arrival

Welcome to the cowboy capital of Canada, and home of the Calgary Stampede! Known as the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, this festival hosts the top cowboys and rodeo competitors in the world, along with a lineup of talented musicians and performers. Arrive in Calgary, and spend your day exploring this vibrant city.

Day 2 – Calgary Stampede

Enjoy a full day of excitement at the Calgary Stampede grounds. Check out the livestock exhibits, eclectic food stands, mid-way rides, and live music performances. Highlight your day with the Stampede Rodeo, featuring a variety of rodeo events performed by talented cowboys. Watch world-class athletes compete in barrel racing, bareback riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc, and bull riding. The Stampede grounds come alive at night with musical performances and famous headliners. Take part in the excitement at Nashville North or Cowboy’s Casino.

Day 3 – Calgary Stampede

Immerse yourself in cowboy culture with another full day of action at the Stampede. Continue your exploration of the extensive festival grounds, with a full new lineup of performances and music available throughout the day. Enjoy an evening of entertainment featuring the Rangeland Derby chuckwagon races and the Grandstand Show. Watch in awe as skilled competitors race chuck wagons and a team of horses around a racetrack. The show continues with a variety extravaganza including comedy, song and dance performances, acrobatics, and a spectacular fireworks finale. Take a quick ride to the elevated viewing platform at Calgary Tower and gaze out over the city into the golden prairies and ranching country of Alberta. On a clear day you can see the foothills and mountains of Alberta’s Kananaskis region.

Day 4 – Calgary

Discover Alberta’s rich heritage today with visits to Calgary’s historic landmarks. Pick up your rental car and drive to the site of Fort Calgary. Here, history comes to life tales of the Northwest Mounted Police, the original fort built at this location, and the first inhabitants of Calgary. Continue your adventure at Heritage Park, a living museum dedicated to preserving Alberta’s past. Immerse yourself in a recreated town with costumed interpreters, and discover what life was like for early settlers. A working bakery, café, steam train and paddle wheeler are just a few of the amazing sights and experiences you will find within this large outdoor museum.

Day 5 – Southern Alberta Day Trip

Spend a day exploring the historic sites of Southern Alberta with a road trip through scenic ranchlands and foothills. Visit Fort MacLeod and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Head Smashed-In Buffalo Jump. The site is one of the oldest and best preserved bison jump sites in North America, dedicated to the ancient hunting techniques of the Plains Indians. Continue your adventure at Bar U Ranch National Historic Site and discover the history of ranching in Canada. Formerly a site of the North West Mounted Police detachment and Post Office, the site has 35 historic buildings and structures, and offers insight into various stages of ranching development. Return to Calgary for an evening at leisure.

Day 6 –Calgary Departure

Your memorable vacation concludes with a morning checkout from your Calgary Hotel and the return of your rental car.
