Kicking Horse Whitewater Rafting

Whitewater rafting down the famous Kicking Horse River offers canyon views, mountain vistas, thrills, spills and fun! With a level for any group, the Kicking Horse River is the ultimate place to try your paddle at whitewater rafting. Four trips are available for every age group and experience level:

 

  • Mild Whitewater (1 to 1.5 hours rafting): The Mild Whitewater Adventure is perfect for families seeking a calmer river experience. Enjoy a peaceful float on the glacial river, while learning the history of the area from your knowledgeable guide. Look out for wildlife in between getting splashed from the class 2 & 3 rapids. At trips end, enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch back at the river base, while viewing a slideshow of your rafting adventure.
  • Kicking Horse Classic (2 to 2.5 hours rafting): Enjoy the serene upper section of the Kicking Horse River before heading into the mighty rapids of the middle canyon. As the Canyon narrows, the waves build, taking rafters on whitewater journey through Class IV rapids, finishing 20km downstream! Get ready to get wet!; BBQ lunch included.
  • Ultimate Whitewater (3 to 3.5 hours rafting):  This 27 kilometer adventure will take you across every rapid the Kicking Horse has to offer! Starting with calmer rapids on the upper canyon, you can get to know your fellow rafters while enjoying the spectacular scenery of the Kicking Horse Canyon! Moving from calmer waters to the longest sustained class 4 or 4+ sections of whitewater in Western Canada, this tour is sure to satisfy even the most adventurous thrill seekers! Must be 16 years or older. BBQ lunch included.
  • Fast Blast (1 to 1.5 hours rafting): This Fast Blast adventure is perfect for guests who don’t have the time for a day-long trip. Departing in the afternoon, this trip journeys (11km) downstream, through the middle canyon of the Kicking Horse River. Perfect for the first time rafter. No experience is necessary.

  • Mild Witewater Adventure: participants must be a minimum of 6 years of age and a minium weight of 23 kilograms (50 lbs)
  • Kicking Horse Classic and Fast Blast: participants must be a minimum of 12 years of age and a minium weight of 41 kilograms (90 lbs)
  • Ultimate Whitewater: participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age and a minium weight of 41 kilograms (90 lbs)
  • All river gear is provided, please bring a swim suit and towel.
  • The Kicking Horse River is rated as Class I to IV whitewater.
  • When transportation is not included, guests must meet at the Hydra River Guides base in Golden, British Columbia.
