It’s time: Roll your car windows down on epic road trips, summit mountain peaks, photograph resident wildlife, and visit serene turquoise lakes. These are just a few of the things you can enjoy in Banff and Jasper National Parks – the adventure headquarters for all kinds of summer fun. The month of May officially kicks off this popular season with Brewster where visitors can choose from a full assortment of activities and tours to experience the best of the Canadian Rockies.

May 1st formally marks the opening of two iconic attractions in the Canadian Rockies. Following a short winter and cooperative spring, the Banff Lake Cruise launched its first boats of the summer at Lake Minnewanka. Just a short and scenic drive out of the Banff town site, visitors are whisked away on an interpretive journey down the legendary waters of the park’s largest lake. The area is also popular for fishing famed lake trout, boating, mountain biking, hiking and picnics.

In Jasper National Park, the Glacier Skywalk officially opened for its second summer of thrills and discovery at the Columbia Icefield. Visitors can experience this landmark through a self-guided journey down an interpretive cliff-edge walkway and brave the hair-raising thrill of stepping off the edge onto a glass platform 918 feet above Sunwapta Valley.

Get the most out of summer by checking off more on your bucket-list from flying above trees to the peak of Sulphur Mountain on the Banff Gondola, to exploring the immense Athabasca Glacier aboard a special Ice Explorer on the iconic Glacier Adventure.

As the season of ultimate relaxation is upon us, travelers looking for worry-fee options can also embark on daily sightseeing tours that highlight the iconic spots and wild experiences in the national parks. So breathe in that fresh mountain air and get ready to explore those warm summer days ahead!
