Experience Fall in the Canadian Rockies

Sep 02, 2014
For just a few weeks in the month of the September, the Rockies turn into literal ‘mountains of gold’. It’s our favorite time of the year in Banff…the colours of the landscape that greet you every morning take your breath away, the fall temperatures make for warm sunny days and cozy evenings, the streets of downtown seem calmer, and the seasonally inspired menus make your tastebuds dance. Those of us fortunate enough to explore Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper during this short but sweet window don’t ever forget it.
The Lake Louise Fall Festival celebrates this magical time of year with a range of activities and events that offer something for everyone. Whether it’s your first trip to the area or your tenth, be ready to discover and explore in a whole new way. Head into the forests of golden larch trees the old-fashioned way – by foot or on horseback! Enjoy a fall hike for families and mountaineers alike. Up your exploration by joining a special program like a fall photography workshop or guided hike with yoga and meditation. Check out the Lake Louise Fall Festival website for a full schedule of events.
Want to take your autumn experience in the Rockies to a whole new level? Taste the rich flavors of the fall season with Canadian microbreweries. Or get your Ultimate Explorer pass to take in the fall colours from the air and from the water with Brewster's award-winning attractions in Banff and the Columbia Icefield. The Icefields Parkway, home of the new Glacier Skywalk, was recently voted one of National Geographic Traveler’s ‘50 Places of a Lifetime’ and we want to know if you agree!
