The making of the Glacier Skywalk

Oct 29, 2013
Have you ever seen something and wondered, “how was it made”?

Last night the Discovery Channel’s feature show, Daily Planet, aired their segment on the making of the Glacier Skywalk.

“We were thrilled to partner with Discovery Channel on the making of this show” said Michael Hannan, President, Brewster Travel Canada. “From the first stages of this project, the Glacier Skywalk has been recognized around the world for its award-winning design. We are excited to share this part of the Glacier Skywalk story through a feature on Daily Planet.”

Designed as an extension of the natural landscape and recognized with a World Architecture Festival Award in 2011, the Glacier Skywalk is a modern-day feat of design and engineering. As construction of the new attraction winds down, Daily Planet, was on site to capture the story behind the incredible construction of the cliff-edge structure. Visitors will experience a unique connection to the natural environment through an interactive interpretive walkway stretching 400 metres along the cliff edge and a thrilling glass-floored vista that floats 280 metres over the astonishing Sunwapta Valley.
