There is certainly a change in the Canadian Rockies when spring starts to arrive. Locals pack away their skis for the season and dust off their hiking boots, bicycles, skateboards and head outdoors. The days are longer, warmer and Banff comes alive with various activities to enjoy. Starting in June and running every Wednesday from 10am to 6pm is the Banff Farmer’s Market in Central park, opposite the Banff Post Office. This weekly event gives Canadian Rockies artists an opportunity to showcase their local artwork, crafts and gives people a chance to escape busy Banff Ave for a picnic in Central Park. With fresh produce available as well as delicious cakes, muffins, popsicles, pies and lunchtime snacks, there will be something for you to enjoy while you watch the world go by and marvel at the stunning mountains that surround the town. And if you are down there around lunchtime, make sure you say hello to me, I’ll be the one with the bike coming for lunch and to soak up the sun.
The Banff Farmer’s Market runs every Wednesday 10am to 6pm from June 12th and September 11th 2013. For more information including location and vendors, please visit the Banff Farmers Market website
