Just this past weekend Meghan Brown, our Senior Vacation Planner, had the privilege of being in Victoria to experience the start of the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. The relay will be the longest in history over 100 days and will span across the country, 45,000 km will be travelled by land, air, water, and some by other means. Over 12,000 people will have the honour of being an Olympic Torchbearer.
"The morning of the relay I headed over to the Parliament building to see the start of the ceremonies, after speeches from BC Premier Gordon Campbell and Olympic Officials, the relay began. The crowd was full of excitement as everyone waved their Olympic flags and wore their Olympic clothing to show support for all of the torch runners and athletes. The weekend was an experience I will never forget!"
The torch will be heading through Banff on January 20th, 2010 - only 74 days! To follow the Olympic Torch Relay across Canada or see when it will be in a community near you, click here for and interactive view and more information on the relay.
