Amazing start to The Amazing Race Canada at Alberta's Columbia Icefield

Jul 09, 2014
Viewers across Canada watched last night as 11 teams embarked on the adventure of a lifetime on CTV’s The Amazing Race Canada. The contestants’ journey began in one of the most breathtaking environments in the country – the Columbia Icefield in the heart of the Canadian Rockies!

The season two premiere kicked off at the Glacier Adventure and award-winning new Glacier Skywalk. Racers had no idea what they were in for when they climbed into a massive Ice Explorer vehicle and were carried on to the surface of an ancient glacier. For a moment they were awe-struck by the views around them – until they remembered that they were standing on the Athabasca Glacier with 10 other teams, who they were about to race across the country in hopes of winning The Amazing Race Canada! Host Jon Montgomery said it best: “You can’t ask for a better view than this!”

The Amazing Race Canada is the most-watched Canadian television series on record. The Brewster attractions at the Columbia Icefield, recognized as a Canadian Signature Experience (CSE), were the perfect fit for an authentically Canadian start to the show. If you missed the premier last night, view it online to watch Jon Montgomery and the contestants take off from the Glacier Adventure and Glacier Skywalk. Get caught up on the teams with the Calgary Herald and then catch the rest of the heart-pounding second season on Tuesdays at 9:00 pm ET/PT on CTV and CTV GO.
